Larry Sears, Ph.D.

Larry Sears, Ph.D. Larry Sears is President of Larken-Shavic, a consulting and organizational development firm that provides training, coaching and consulting services in organizational systems and processes, personal and organizational development, leadership, and strategic futures planning.

Prior to founding Larken-Shavic, Larry was Manager of Community and Education Affairs for Portland General Electric. He holds a B.Ed. from Western Washington State University, an M.B.A. from City University, and a Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University. Over the past 12 years, Larry has served as a consultant and trainer for educational, governmental and nonprofit organizations. His work has focused on helping organizations begin to understand themselves as systems, as well as building the individual and team capacity of the members of the organization.

Larry has served on the Boards of several nonprofit organizations, two-legislative committees concerned with organizational design and quality management for educational institutions, and as Chair, examiner, and trainer for the Oregon State Quality Award program.

Larry has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in organizational systems, systems leadership and change management, communications, organizational theory and labor relations. He has a special interest in change management, personal and organizational development, and in applying quality management and systems thinking concepts to organizations and communities. He helped launch Lewis & Clark Graduate School’s doctoral program in leadership, and currently teaches graduate level organizational systems and leadership courses at Lewis & Clark College.
