Robert is Senior Fellow at the Center for Creative Leadership. He is a lead instructor in the Leadership at the Peak course for corporate CEOs, Presidents and their direct reports. He is the developer of the Team Effectiveness Leadership Model that provides the theoretical framework for CCL’s Leadership and High-Performance Teams course, the other public course in which he works.
Robert also works with clients to develop programs and research tailored to their specific needs. These may include workshops designed to enhance individual and team effectiveness conducted in a variety of settings, or may focus on research to develop a better understanding of leadership and teamwork in the organizational setting. His presentations are unique in their combination of important learnings presented in a direct and humorous manner.
Prior to joining the Center for Creative Leadership, Robert was a tenured professor at the United States Air Force Academy and served as the Director of Leadership and Counseling. He also served in numerous line and staff positions in the Air Force including leadership of an 875 man combat force and intelligence network in the Vietnam War, where he received the Gallantry Cross, the Air Medal and the Bronze Star. He flew as a crewmember in a variety of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. His research on leadership and teamwork has been directly applied in commercial and military aviation, surgical and dental teams, and top management and product development teams.
Robert is an organizational psychologist whose education includes a Master of Business Administration degree, a Master of Arts, a Master of Philosophy, and a Ph.D. from Yale University. He is co-author of the best selling undergraduate textbook, LEADERSHIP: Enhancing the Lessons of Experience, 4th Edition. He is currently working on a practical team leadership book Leading Great Team: Building Them fro the Ground Up, Fixing Them on the Fly, Spring 2006.
